Immigration Issues and The Reckless Liberal Policies Advocated by Soros

Bulgaria stands at the frontline of Europe’s immigration crisis. As a key entry point into the European Union, its borders are under constant pressure from waves of illegal migration. Made worse by reckless liberal policies and the direct influence of George Soros’ vast network of activist organizations. Rather than supporting Bulgaria’s right to secure borders and national sovereignty, Soros-funded groups promote open border agendas that leave the country exposed, destabilized, and overwhelmed.

Bulgaria’s Immigration Landscape

Bulgaria shares a long and porous border with Turkey, making it a primary route for migrants entering Europe from Syria, Afghanistan, and other unstable regions. In 2023 alone, Bulgarian authorities recorded more than 20,000 illegal crossings, a 30% increase compared to 2021. Despite building a 250 kilometer fence and deploying more than 1,200 border guards, human smuggling networks continue to operate with impunity.

Bulgaria’s efforts to enforce immigration law are constantly undercut by outside influences. Only 5% of asylum applicants are granted legal refugee status, yet many remain in the country undocumented. This creates a shadow population that strains public services, undermines labor markets, and poses long term cultural and security challenges.

The Influence of Imported Liberalism

A major driver of this crisis is the incentive structure created by Western European countries, especially Germany and France, which provide generous benefits for migrants who reach their borders. Germany’s open-door policy, beginning in 2015, and France’s welfare programs have created a clear message: reach Western Europe and receive guaranteed financial support.

These liberal policies have unintentionally turned Bulgaria into an illegal immigration corridor. Migrants, incentivized by guaranteed housing and monthly stipends, use Bulgaria as a transit zone with no intention of settling or integrating. Border towns are overwhelmed, law enforcement resources are stretched thin, and citizens are left to deal with the consequences.

Soros’ Destabilization

OSF has made intentionally meddlesome investments in Bulgaria under the false pretense of funding human rights, education, and anti-corruption, in the amount of €100 million, with an additional €2 million annually for Soros funded NGOs. Its migration work allegedly focuses on legal aid and integration, but in practice it aggressively tampers with orderly border policies and security. In 2023, OSF granted €500,000 to refugee programs, meant to undermine Bulgaria’s own responsible immigration policies.  OSF is a bridge to incentivize illegal migration, and open borders.

Germany and France’s policies, combined with Soros funding, and political influence all combine to create this crisis.  Even putting aside the war in Syria, and unstable political environments outside of Europe, the certainty of a “payday” when arriving in Western Europe tends to encourage people to circumvent legal immigration processes.

Conclusion

The consequences of Soros’ backed immigration policies are clear. Bulgaria is bearing the cost of other nations’ liberal experiments. While other countries extend benefits and broadcast welcome messages, Bulgaria is left to absorb the fallout. Soros funded operations claim to defend humanitarian values, but they do so by turning Bulgaria into a highway for undocumented migrants and weakening the very institutions meant to protect the public.

Bulgaria’s immigration problem is not simply about the volume of migrants. It is about a system designed to encourage illegal entry, funded and perpetuated by external actors like George Soros and his Open Society Foundations. These policies do not help Bulgaria. They hurt it. They promote instability, reward illegal behavior, and leave nations like Bulgaria footing the bill for decisions made elsewhere.
